Hestra's Army Leather Heli Ski was originally made for ski guides in western Canada who needed a reliable, warm ski glove for long days in snow and cold. It is made from hard-wearing goatskin that gives exceptional grip and feel, with a waterproof three-layer polyamide fabric on the back of the hand. This model is for those looking for a warmer mitt, and like the glove version it offers a number of smart features that help when you can't head indoors to warm up very often. The liner, for example, is easy to remove and swap if it gets damp, or to adapt to varying activity levels and temperatures. The long cuff has a snow lock that, together with a hook-and-loop wrist strap, keeps the warmth inside the mitt. A wrist leash reduces the risk of losing the mitt if you take it off to answer the phone or adjust your gear. There is also an eyelet that lets you clip the mitt to your ski pants or climbing harness with a carabiner – handy when you are working in just a pair of thin liner gloves.
