Use and instructions
Here you will find simple instructions for the equipment you can rent from us. Please read through before picking up your gear – it makes hand-over quicker and helps you get the most out of your days in Trysil.
Alpine skis and ski boots
- Foot length in cm matters more than shoe size. Measure the foot from heel to longest toe – we fit the boot accordingly.
- The boot should sit snugly around the heel, with the toes just touching the front when standing upright, and free when you bend your knees.
- Bindings are set according to weight, height, foot length and skill level. Do not adjust them yourself – come and see us.
- Ski length: beginners approx. chin height, experienced skiers approx. forehead height. We adjust to your riding style.
- We recommend a helmet for everyone, children and adults alike.
Snowboard
- Board length is chosen by weight and use: shorter for park, longer for the mountain and speed.
- Tell us whether you ride regular (left foot forward) or goofy, so we can set the binding angles correctly.
- Snowboard boots should fit tighter than ordinary shoes – they soften up after a couple of days.
- Wear wrist guards for the first few days if you are a beginner.
Cross-country and touring skis
- Classic: skis approx. 20–25 cm longer than your height. Skating: approx. 10–15 cm longer.
- We deliver waxed skis. If conditions are wet or icy, drop by for a re-wax – it is free for rental customers.
- Poles for classic technique reach the armpit, for skating the chin/mouth.
- Backcountry skis and snowshoes suit those who want to go off the groomed trails.
Pulk sleds and children's equipment
- A pulk with a bar and harness suits children up to about 4 years – remember a wind cover in cold weather.
- Children's skis are delivered with low binding settings and a correctly sized helmet.
- Check that the helmet sits level and that the chin strap has room for one finger.
Mountain and e-bikes (summer)
- Frame size: approx. 150–165 cm = S, 165–178 cm = M, 178–188 cm = L, above 188 cm = XL.
- Saddle height is correct when the leg is almost straight with the heel on the pedal at its lowest point.
- E-bike: start on the lowest assistance level on steep sections and use both brakes evenly.
- A helmet is included with every bike. Return the bike with the battery, and please hose it down to remove mud before you hand it back.
Pick-up, delivery and return
- Equipment can be picked up in the shop, or delivered to your cabin – choose delivery at checkout and mark the address on the map.
- Some equipment is best tried on in the shop before you choose delivery – especially ski boots and other footwear, where the fit matters most.
- Bikes must be hosed clean of mud before they are returned.
- A rental day runs from hand-over to return at the same time. Late returns are charged one extra day.
- Damage beyond normal wear is invoiced at set rates. Let us know straight away and we will find a solution.
- If something is wrong with the equipment along the way, call 91 92 92 91 – we will exchange it free of charge.
